Bunbury Public Libraries is inviting community members to visit their local library for a special story time session to celebrate National Simultaneous Storytime on Wednesday 22 May.
National Simultaneous Storytime is an annual national event held by the Australian Library and Information Association.
Each year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and may other places around the country.
This year the chosen story is Alpacas with Maracas.
Now in its 19th successful year, it is a colourful, vibrant, fun event that aims to promote the value of reading and literacy, using an Australian children’s book that explores age-appropriate themes, and addresses key learning areas of the National Curriculum for Foundation to Year 6.
- Children are encouraged to Have some fun and come dressed in their favourite costume!
There will be prize giveaways at both Bunbury City Library and Withers Community Library.
Visit the Withers Community Library from 10.30am where there will be special guests from the Bunbury Fire Brigade, fire truck and lots of free activities to enjoy.
The Bunbury Public Library event kicks off at 3.30pm with special guests Jesse and Juelz from Hit FM Southwest, Old Macdonald and their farm animals and more. This event will be Auslan interpreted.
