Congratulations to Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre (BREC) on celebrating 25 years as the entertainment hub of the South West.
A richness in cultural activity is vital for attracting people to work and live in the Greater Bunbury region and the South West in general, making BREC a real asset to the South West economy. Since the expansion launched in July 2014, BREC has made an increasing contribution to business tourism, attracting a wide range of organisations to hold their conferences here and bringing many State, interstate and overseas visitors to the region that has flow on effects to the South West economy.
The National Australian Indigenous Tourism Conference being held at BREC on March 9-11 is a great example of the value BREC adds to the local economy. The conference theme is Walking Together – Building Sustainable Futures and the focus will be on Youth, Environment, Culture and Business of Tourism. The conference attracts between 200 and 400 delegates from Australia and overseas, which creates an economic impact expected to be more than $500,000 for local tourism businesses, accommodation and general suppliers. This is a great opportunity for the Greater Bunbury region to showcase itself as a tourism destination.
