Due to overwhelming support from sponsors at this year’s Westrac Bunbury Geographe Gift, gate entry was free. This enabled nearly 4000 people to attend the event, and enjoy the spectacle of elite athletes battling it out for the much coveted prize money.
Donations however were taken at the gate and at their recent committee meeting it was decided to donate the proceeds to the Bunbury and Districts Little Athletics Club.
A cheque for $1983 will be presented to the club to assist with the development of the sport in the region. The BDLAC are essential to the smooth running of the event, with their generosity in volunteer hours and assistance with the race meet. A key objective of the gift is to contribute to the development of the sport in Bunbury Geographe, and this has been achieved through offering unique opportunities to local kids. This includes a full Little Athletics program during the weekend, an access to elite athletes through clinics.
