BREC has been named Western Australian Presenter of the Year in the inaugural Pinnacle Awards presented by CircuitWest at an awards ceremony held in Perth last Thursday evening.
- “We are very honoured to be the first recipients of the Award. It’s a huge achievement for the incredibly dedicated staff and volunteers at BREC, and real win for the whole South West region.” said Fiona de Garis, Executive Director at BREC.
- “To be voted the leading performing arts venue in Western Australia by WA producers, who tour to hundreds of venues across the country, is a real endorsement of our hard work. It recognises the role we play in bringing artists and audiences together to share both entertaining and transformative experiences, as well as the world class facilities and team we have here at BREC.” de Garis said.
BREC was one of three finalists, competing with Mandurah Performing Arts Centre and Ravensthorpe Regional Arts Council for the prestigious award.
CircuitWest Executive Director, Ryan Taaffe said, “This Award recognises excellence in all its forms, and will open the eyes of many touring companies nationally and overseas to the quality of venues in Western Australia.”
- “It is a well-deserved win for BREC as they play a huge role in arts education, community inclusion and developing local artists in the South West region.” Taaffe continues. “BREC is a major driver in inspiring the next generation of theatre makers, delivering entertainment for students, talks with industry professionals and practical workshops under the direction of world class performers.”
The Pinnacle Awards have been introduced to acknowledge the high level of skill and expertise required to create, present and tour live performance and deliver associated cultural programs, whether in major cities or in regional and remote Western Australia. Pinnacle Award nominees are proposed by industry peers across the State and the winners chosen by a distinguished selection panel.
CircuitWest represents Western Australian presenters, producers and artists from Broome to Esperance, to Kalgoorlie and everywhere in between, including Perth.
