BREC is pleased to announce the South West debut of pianist Oxana Shevchenko at 7pm, Thursday March 21. Shevchenko is internationally recognised as a pianist of outstanding artistry, sensibility and versatility. She was one of the top six finalists at the 2016 Sydney International Piano Competition and won first place for the best Piano Quintet. To celebrate the performance Shevchenko is hosting a one hour Piano Masterclass at 5pm on Tuesday March 19 in The Cube Theatre. Two lucky classical music students have been invited to participate, both receiving 30 minutes of one on one training with the pianist. The masterclass is free to the public to observe with complimentary tickets available at bunburyentertainment.com. “We’re thrilled to be able to bring such high-calibre talent to the South West” says Fiona de Garis, Executive Director of BREC. “And most excited to provide this once in a lifetime masterclass experience to local aspiring pianists” she continues.
- Shevchenko’s program will include Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No.13 Op.27 No.1, Schumann’s Carnaval Op.9, Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, and two works by Tchaikovsky: 18 Pieces Op.72 No.5 Méditation and Dumka Op.59.
